Beaches
The beaches in and around La Paz are extremely beautiful with gently sloping white sand. The best beaches for sunbathing are found along the highway to Pichilingue. Some of these beaches include services like “palapa” rentals (shade made from palm tree fronds), restaurants, bars, aquatic sport rentals and restrooms.
Coromuel Beach/El Caimancito Beach. This is the beach the locals go to. La Concha Resort is located on Caimancito.
Treasure Beach. This small cove was named as is, by a treasure discovered during highway construction in 1965..
Pichilingue Beach. The La Paz ferry terminal and a large commercial harbor are based here. Nice beaches are just north of the port and have several palapas (thatch-roofed, open-air eateries).
Balandra Beach. This beautiful cove and bay with a backdrop of mangroves is a good beach for swimming, kayaking and sunbathing. There are a few palapas and barbecue pits.
Tecolote Beach. This lovely stretch of beach is favored by swimmers and water sports enthusiasts. Sports equipment is available for rent and you can dine in beachfront restaurants. Isla Espiritu Santo, a beautiful island with lovely bays and animal life to enjoy, is located four miles off shore.
El Coyote Beach. A 22-mile drive from La Paz, this beach faces the Sea of Cortez.
Isla Espíritu Santo. Espiritu Santo Island is the closest to the Bay of La Paz and the most beautiful of all the islands found in the Sea of Cortez. The contrasts between the red, chalky rocks, the turquoise sea and its phenomenal sunsets make for a very impressive view.
